Iftar Dash
A little hurry, a few parcels, and always a place at the table!
In development. Concept artwork; the game is not yet available.
After a long day of fasting, it's time for iftar! Cairo is famous for its Maidat al-Rahman, "Tables of Mercy," sponsored by communities and charities and which feed anyone in need of a meal. The most famous of these is the community banquet in Matariya, where miles of alleyways are decorated and feed around 100,000 on the 15th of Ramadan.
Inspired by the Tables of Mercy, and the excitement of making it on time to iftar, Iftar Dash invites the player to guide an Egyptian girl through the streets, picking up neighbours' contributions for iftar. As the light turns gold and sunset approaches, she makes her way to Cairo's iconic Sultan Hassan mosque and a community iftar.
The planned game is a short run with simple swipe controls: switch lanes, jump over crates and slide beneath low awnings. Along the way, neighbours offer wrapped parcels to take to the gathering. Picking them up is optional, and missing one never means missing the meal. Every completed run reaches iftar, with no countdown or missed-meal ending.
